Every Student, Every Day
Recently, student attendance rates have plummeted across the country, leaving students with large holes in their knowledge, and much difficulty for school staff to get them caught back up. Long standing research indicates that students who are chronically absent have fewer positive relationships at school, higher dropout rates, and may even impact the academic performance of all other students in their classroom as well. In this workshop, participants will learn about the impacts of frequent absences, learn ways to encourage strong attendance rates, and support students who are struggling with attendance.
Developing Social-Emotional Wellbeing Instruction and Supports
Description: Educators have increasingly turned their attention to developing the social emotional skills of their students, but often lacked adequate tools and guidance in how to effectively build a system of instruction and supports for the needs of all students. Fortunately, research and practice have caught up with each other, and the pathway to developing the social-emotional wellbeing of our students is clearer than ever before. Participants will learn a framework for developing social emotional skills, identify what data they can use to measure instructional effectiveness, and design supports for students who need supplementary support.
Addressing Self-Efficacy through the Kansans Can Competency Framework
Description: Students who develop strong self-efficacy skills are more likely to experience K-12, college, and even workplace success. This training series is designed for teachers to better understand instructional activities to teach self-efficacy, either in core content or other applicable areas. Through this interactive 4-part professional development and coaching series, educators will gain knowledge and resources to adaptively apply self-efficacy practices in their school setting. Deescalation from a Trauma-Responsive Lens
This session will present strategies for responding to students whose challenging behaviors are disruptive to learning of others, as well as themselves. Using a framework of sequential considerations, we will seek to evaluate the underlying “why” of a student’s behavior. Participants will walk away with an increased understanding of prevention of challenging behaviors, and the key components of effective strategies to de-escalate when they arise.
